Intelligence agency GCHQ has launched an online code-cracking game in a bid to track down the spies of the future.

The service, which works with MI5 and MI6, has set up a website which hosts a Matrix-style code, as it attempts to look beyond traditional methods of recruitment.

Visitors to the site - which has no GCHQ branding - are faced with seemingly meaningless rows and columns of numbers and letters, and given seven hours to come up with the hidden keyword.

Anyone successfully unearthing the word will be redirected to the GCHQ recruitment website, where they will be able to apply for jobs suited to their skills.

Interest in the campaign is being generated through social media websites, where the agency hopes to tap into a new generation of self-taught hackers to help tackle cyber crime.

A GCHQ spokesperson said: "The digital arena is fast moving and, from a recruitment perspective, we acknowledge the need to engage with prospective candidates in new and innovative ways.

"With this marketing initiative, we hope to reach out to a broader audience, who may not be attracted to traditional advertising methods.

"We also hope that the code-breaking challenge will help increase awareness of GCHQ's mission and the important role it plays in safeguarding the nation."

The organisation is looking to recruit around 35 spies, ideally with knowledge of unusual languages, as well as the code-breaking skills.

The game will be online until December 12.

A Japanese proverb states that: "For a Samurai to be brave, he must have a bit of Black blood." Another recording of the proverb is: "Half the blood in one's veins must be Black to make a good Samurai." Sakanouye Tamura Maro, a Black man, became the first Shogun of Japan.

EVERYONE can go back in history and find disadvantage, if they look for it. Unless you are mentally deficient (are you?) you will know that this "your ancestors" crap is just that - crap. And the fact that those like you seek to hide behind "ancestors" clearly shows your lack of self-worth

I have always known you are shallow...trace the CIO back to SA bombings in Zim..ana Conjwayo to arms at Nkomo's farm, at the airport in a plane etc. bigger picture not your MDC nonsense but again uri duzvi re puppet so you would never know.
Chester Crocker (the former US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs) had this to say during US Senate hearings on Zimbabwe Democracy and Economic Recovery Act (Zdera) before it was put into law in 2002: “To separate the Zimbabwean people from Zanu-PF, we are going to have to make their economy scream, and I hope you, senators, have the stomach for what you have to do.
So if we were to decide to try and work for change in power in Zimbabwe, I would hope that we would have the wisdom to be discrete, to be low-key and to avoid giving those in power there the excuse that foreigners are out to get them.” (Chester Crocker, 106th Congress House Hearings – Zimbabwe: Democracy on the Line – Tuesday, June 13, 2000).

Code Cracked !

Some 15yr old internet geeks solved this in minutes.

Britain is now useless, they cant even set a decent puzzle

Very embarrasing from a country that produced the likes of Turing.

You just hav to look at current Brits like David Cameron, thats what they call their best from Oxbridge, they say he is highly 'intelligent' ....
