Alot of uk based zimbabweans are now aquiring and building in zim, why?
Uk is no where near as feasible as it was early 2000 to save or live, average house prices in london for 2 bed house hovering aronnd the 230k mark. Not forgetting that economically uk isnt doing so well, jobs are hard to com by now conisdering you are lucky to get a mortgage, will you be lucky enough to hold on to your jobto pay your 25 year mortgage? Alot of zimbabweana think not.

Hi Guys
Building in Zim is the way to go, you will build at your own pace as and when you raise enough to progress the building. You have the opportunity to own a brand new house. Like one contributor said house in Low density (old) neighbourhoods are shacky and near collapsing, try Malborough, Malbereign etc you will only be buying a stand then destroy the building and start afresh.
UK/Europe economies are down and will not be recovering anytime soon, this is largely to the growth of China India Brazil and other developing nations who are now better at managing the sale and use of their own resources. That meanS uk/EU have competition in areas where traditionally they dictated the prices. So recovery is in the distance future, if at all it will never be the same as the early 2000s.
Now being stuck with a 25 year mortgage in this environment forces you to work alll your life and when you finish paying off the mortgage it will be alomost time to move into aa elderly residential home (in Zim your house is paid up, just find mari ye chingwa nemukaka daily).
My advice build at your pace try better priced areas like Charlotte Brooke (USD 9000 get you something) Crowhill near Borrowdale (usd 10,000). Becarefule with the old names like Borrowdale Vainona etc costing USD 50,000 ..... they are old and not value for money. Kwavakugara matsotsi who made it via maney changes and deals its no longer they place for Dr abc and UZ Lectures who made it feel posh.
Good Luck
